Future State Definition

The Future State Definition template provides a high-level description of:

• the overall change vision
• current state vs future state
• gap analysis as it relates to current vs future state
• key change interventions

Both the current and future state can be defined in terms people, process, technology and organizational dimensions, while the gap analysis will give an initial view of the scale of change management effort required.

Key interventions can be drawn out by considering each of the dimensions above against the six areas of change management best practice:

• shared change purpose
• visible change leadership
• smart engagement and communication
• strong individual performance
• supportive organization and culture 
• meaningful change measurement
